As I reflect about my time of recovery my mind goes to the relationship between my times of prayer and reading. Many good things can become barriers to our life of prayer. We are in the shadow of the Feast of the Holy Trinity. During my time of recovery I read many books. One of the books I read was by Bishop Robert Barron called Exploring Catholic Theology. One of the regular themes he has in this book is that we “ARE” a relationship to God. What does this for us in relationship to the Trinity? Part of my life as a friar and a priest is the need to stay current about timely invents to serve the people of the area. For a while now I just see a big sickness in the mainstream media. As disciples of Christ we are called to be discerners of Truth. Yet, we do not discern alone but have been given certain gifts from the Spirit. A few of the gifts that are important in our relationship with the media is the gift of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. Slander and Libel are serious concerns that both Pope Benedict XVI and Francis have told us about and called out the media on. I hope my thoughts help you to continue to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ, which is done through the power of the Spirit. This podcast episode is going the day after Pentecost. The reason I am a Catholic is due to the presence of the Holy Spirit. He came to me at a moment I was not expecting it. I still do not know why at that moment in my life He came to me. I share this personal experience along with the need we all have for the Spirit’s presence. I believe, he gives us freedom to live to the fullest being that we are called to live. I pray that the Holy Spirit continues help you all grow in the gift of life the Father has gift you. While I am recovering I am reading more and more books. One type of things I am reading is older Carmelite writers. Today, I offer a reflection of one of his (Fr. As, I am still recovering from my surgery, I am trying to the time to catch up on things. One of the things I am trying to catch up on is my reading list. One of the people I am reading now is Leo Tolstoy. I am reading some of his short stories. His short story called The Three Hermits is one of my favorites. There is a lot of insights and wisdoms we can learn from this story, but today I wanted to reflect on the importance of humility and our spiritual lives.
